We are now well into the Vancouver Olympics and have all seen the Olympic logo many times. Therefore, I thought I’d pass along a couple quick facts about it and ask you what you think of it.
- The logo was chosen over 1,600 submitted designs
- It was designed by Elena Rivera MacGregor and Gonzalo Alatorre
- The logo represents an inukshuk. An inukshuk is a traditional stone sculpture used by Canada’s Inuit people. (It also looks a little like a hockey goalie)
- The colors in the logo represent different regions of the country.
- Green and Blues: symbolize coastal forests, mountain ranges and islands
- Red: represents Canada’s Maple Leaf
- Yellow: depicts the brilliant sunrises
Thanks for passing the link along.
There was an interesting story about the inspiration for this logo on NPR today. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=123851564
Love the posts, Elissa. Always interesting!
